Some Zumba classes also incorporate small weights into the class, for a dance or two. These weights increase the calories burned but also tighten and tone muscles. On average a Zumba class burns between 600 and 800 calories. Of course working harder, burns more and being a sloth you would burn less.

An average Zumba class lasts approximately an hour from warm up to cool down. In that hour (depending on the instructor) you will try a little bit of plenty of Latin dances. You will get a taste of salsa, mambo, rumba, flamenco and sometimes some hip hop as well. Each of these dances is fast moving, forcing the body to burn calories. Sure, we might have had some subtle warnings before hand, because we needed to rearrange the way we wear our clothes, or maybe loosening that extra notch in our belt, or maybe it just seemed harder to bend over, either way we have gained the weight and now we want to take it off.

As far as I’m concerned there is no such thing as dieting, dieting and eating sensibly are two different things, so its better to train ourselves to eat right over time than try to lose a few pounds quickly. You can diet all you want, and most people within the first week or two end up cheating, gradually sliding back in to their rut, discretely acknowledging their defeat. Instead of dieting there are some supplements that can help reduce calories quicker.
